Here we thought principals took the summer off! This Summer we had principals from local Marana schools paired up with local businesses to learn what bearing the future of education has with today’s job market.  The changes in the educational system necessary to fit the needs of the businesses now and in the future seems to be a never-ending process and challenge.  Not surprisingly, many of the schools are up for the challenge!  Many of the businesses were pleasantly surprised by the forward thinking of the school district principals.  The information provided to the schools from the businesses was equally impressive.  This program helps keep teachers, principals and local officials informed as to what is working and what we can improve.

The overall environment of today’s education and work force is anything but at a standstill. THANK YOU to all who get involved.

With great appreciation to those of you who participated in July’s Exchange:

Political Fourms

“Local government has an enormous impact on people’s everyday lives, and on the services that people have the most contact with,” says Sarah Elkind, a professor of political history at San Diego State University and the author of the book “How Local Politics Shape Federal Policy.” Understanding the impact of local elections, the Marana Chamber will give the Marana community opportunity to meet the incumbents and candidates running for Mayor and Town Council. With three positions open for election, the Chamber’s forum will feature a statements from each candidate and the chance for the audience to submit questions. The Town Council is a seven member non-partisan body elected at large by the registered voters of Marana. The mayor and the town council members serve four-year staggered terms with the position of mayor directly elected by voters. Learn more about the candidates and the voting process in Marana.

The Marana Chamber participated in the Western Association of Chamber executive survey in April. There were a total of 238 chambers, 8,263 members participated in 8 western states.

The Marana Chamber scored the highest rating ever 71% Net Promotor Score (NPS). The NPS is based on the fundamental perspective that every company’s customers can be divided into three categories: Promoters, Passives, and Detractors. By asking one simple question — How likely is it that you would recommend the chamber to a friend or colleague?

Ed and Chamber team thanks the members that participated in the survey and making the Marana Chamber a great chamber.

The Marana Chamber recently hosted our Business Connections Luncheon: Planes, Trains & Automobiles. The guest speakers offered everyone in attendance valuable information about aspects of transportation in the area. The recent changes made by the Tucson Airport Authority to their terminals will help ease flow of foot traffic and check-in process. The Port of Tucson highlighted Tucson as a hub for global trade by explaining logistics with Mexico and Asia that provide a key link to the world economy.
